our why.

Meet David Manela, MD

My passion for medicine started with my loving Jewish parents who of course wanted their son to be a physician :) With my brother pursuing a legal career (he’s now a prominent lawyer) and myself becoming a doctor, my parents got their wish and then some.

When my mom fell ill in 2010,  we went to all the Ivy League universities - the “best hospitals”. Getting an appointment with the Chief of Thoracic Surgery at one of them, for the first time I sat on the other side of the desk.

Anxious, scared, worried... We waited nearly three hours until he showed up with his entourage. Despite the fact that my father was paying top dollar out-of-pocket, the doctor sat down, rattled through the chart, typing as quickly as he was discussing treatment options, and then shuffled us to his nurse practitioner.

I was stunned at this total lack of connection.

I realized how badly I wanted him to give a damn. We wanted a partner in this and we didn’t get it.

It was a huge turning point for me and changed the way I practice medicine.

As a practicing physician for the last 15 years in California, I’m thrilled to bring extensive experience in Primary Care, Cardiovascular Health and State of the Art treatments in the fields of beauty/aesthetics, sexual health, joint disease and regenerative health.

While my practice bears the name cardiology - this reflects my years in advanced training and the passion I have for understanding how today’s technology and advances can help each individual. We are bringing you the access to forefronts in multiple fields of medicine. And as a member, you will enjoy the highest standard when it comes to not only your heart - but your over-all health and beauty as well!

While working at Kaiser Permanente, I stood out as one who showed true ownership over every patient. I fought for their causes - making sure they were seen within 24 hours and never allowing for questions to remain unanswered.

While other physicians left loose ends, my patients knew they had a doctor who would not only advocate for them, but who would be a true partner in their healthcare.

So when the chance to relocate and build a Comprehensive Medical Practice and Heart Health Center – where the entire team practices by these principles – I made the jump without hesitation.

I have known Dr. Manela since 2007... He is an exceptional cardiologist and person. His combination of breadth of knowledge, decision-making skills, communication skills, methodical analysis and curiosity allows him to work closely and effectively with patients and collegues alike. My patients have always had an equally high respect for him and appreciated his ability to set up clear plans for their care. His growth mindset and creative ideas elevated our entire medical center’s ability to provide care.

“I’ve always made it my mission to keep the definition of being a doctor as close to its original meaning - docere: to teach - and inspire others to optimize their health and overall well-being. These are the fundamental values at the core of Manela Cardiology and I look forward to welcoming you at our Miami center.”
